A 15-year old Burton High School student was killed Tuesday when the car she was riding in slammed into a utility pole on Alemany Boulevard near Ellsworth Street.

The girl, identified as Ngoc Tran of San Francisco, was riding in a Toyota Camry with three other teenagers when the car went out of control at 9:20am on southbound Alemany.

The car hit the curb,struck a shopping cart, a mailbox and then the pole, police spokesman Dewayne Tully said Tran was thrown from the car and died at the scene. Another teen was critically injured.
